Check the “independent” checkbox if the movie is a independent production, e.g. not produced by a major film studio. The distinction of independent and non-independent is sometimes rather difficult. Check the additional resources to help. Sometimes, a distributor or production company states that it distributes or produces indie films. If that is the case, it's rather safe to tick the box.
